Over time, our facial skin can develop sagging and deep folds, which can make us look much older than our actual age. To correct this problem, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Gregory Diehl offers a surgical rejuvenation procedure called a rhytidectomy, otherwise known as a facelift.
A rhytidectomy is intended to restore and revitalize the soft tissue of the mid-to-lower face. This procedure generally involves a detailed consultation with the patient. After listening to the aesthetic goals and preferences of the patient, the surgical plan can be thoroughly mapped out, and a surgery date is set.
The actual procedure requires general anesthesia while the skin is lifted and tightened. Most patients are able to return home that same day to begin their recovery process.
