Botulinum Toxin A is a prescription medicine that is used to improve the look of the lines between the brows, around the eyes and in the upper forehead. The procedure takes only approximately 10 minutes, and the discomfort is minimal. But the true beauty of Long Island Botulinum Toxin A® is, because these lines are prevented from being made, any permanent wrinkles from forming might be lessened or avoided altogether.
Botulinum Toxin A is administered as a simple, nonsurgical treatment that is placed directly into the muscles that cause the lines and wrinkles. It works by blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles. This reduces muscle activity that causes lines to form. Small injections of Botulinum Toxin A around the eyes make the tiny wrinkles disappear, especially when squinting or laughing (thus, "laugh lines"). It is just as useful for the "frown lines" and forehead creases.
Botulinum Toxin A® is also injected into the skin to control excessive perspiration, known as hyperhidrosis, in the underarm area. Botulinum Toxin A treatment helps control the symptoms of severe underarm sweating when topical medicines do not work well enough by temporarily blocking the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands. When the sweat glands don’t receive chemical signals, the severe sweating stops. Botulinum Toxin A injections are expected to temporarily stop the production of excessive sweat in the treated areas only. Sweat continues to be produced elsewhere. Your sweat doesn't go anywhere or get backed up because the sweat simply is not produced in the areas treated with Botulinum Toxin A The rest of your body is free to produce moisture normally. The effect of underarm treatment lasts a lot longer, approximately a year.
Botulinum Toxin A is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used:
To treat increased muscle stiffness in elbow, wrist, and finger muscles in adults with upper limb spasticity.
To treat the abnormal head position and neck pain that happens with cervical dystonia (CD) in adults.
To treat certain types of eye muscle problems (strabismus) or abnormal spasm of the eyelids (blepharospasm) in people 12 years and older.
Botulinum Toxin A injections last about three months, sometimes as much as five. After prolonged use of Botulinum Toxin A the tiny muscles should relax even more, and you might not need as much or as frequently.
Botulinum Toxin A is fast and effective. There is no recovery time and patients can resume normal activities immediately after the procedure. Results begin to appear several days after the injections.
